Cooking with Michelin-starred Chefs

Would you like to learn how to cook like a Michelin-starred chef? You'll find the perfect kitchen to do this in the basement of the Hotel Okura Amsterdam. It's the kitchen of starred chefs as Masanori Tomikawa (one Michelin star) and Onno Kokmeijer (two Michelin stars). But it is also your kitchen....

Every Level

The beating heart of the Taste of Okura takes the form of three ivory-white cooking islands. Around these units, Okura's chefs give their cooking workshops.

High Tech

The Okura's Culinary Center has, in conjunction with Miele, been fitted out with every possible piece of high-tech kitchen equipment - from teppanyaki griddles to steam ovens, from grills to espresso machines. So becoming a top chef is as easy as pie.

Star Restaurants

During the cooking sessions you get to make dishes to a Michelin-star level. Take Ciel Bleu, for instance, Amsterdam's two-star restaurant. Together with the Taste of Okura chefs, you'll prepare a four-course meal à la Onno Kokmeijer. Afterwards there's a chance to enjoy the fruits of your labors together with the other students.

Making Sushi

Of course, you can also learn to make sushi, with Yamazato's sushi-chefs. Curious about the renowned Japanese teppan griddle? Then choose the Taste of Teppanyaki, a teppanyaki workshop with the teppan yaki chefs of Sazanka. There is always a proffesional chef on hand, just to help.

Private or Professional

You may join in Taste of Okura workshops as an individual, as a group or on a professional footing. Cooking sessions for individuals are aimed at 20 people. There's a bit more flexibility in workshops for the profession. The Okura cooking studio is also available for parties and receptions (of up to 100 people), with chefs preparing amuses for you.
